From company name idea to registered company
A company name has to clear three hurdles a brand name may not: your company register must accept it, it must include the right legal ending (LLC, Inc., Ltd), and it should not clash with an existing trademark. Use the generator for the long list, then the checker for the short list.
Many founders register a plain legal name (Summit Bridge LLC) and trade under a punchier brand. That is normal and legal, provided you file a DBA or trade name where your state or country requires it.
Company name ideas that age well
Avoid names tied to one product, one city or one technology if you might outgrow them. Short invented or compound names (two syllables, under ten letters) tend to age best and are the most likely to have a free domain.
Next steps: run your favourite through the business name checker, write a line for it in the slogan generator, or read how to name a business.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make sure a company name is legally available?
Search your state's business entity database (US), Companies House (UK) or your national register for identical or very similar names, then search the trademark office in your goods and services class. Both checks are linked from the business name checker.
Does my company name have to include LLC or Ltd?
Usually yes. Most US states require an LLC name to end with "Limited Liability Company", "LLC" or "L.L.C.", and corporations need "Inc.", "Corp." or similar. UK private companies must end with "Limited" or "Ltd". You can trade under a different brand name.
Can two companies have the same name?
In different states or countries, often yes, because company registers are local. But trademark rights can stretch nationwide, so the earlier user of a registered mark can still stop you trading under a confusingly similar name.
Is there a company name generator with a domain check?
Yes. This one checks .com, .io, .app, .net and .co live for every name as it appears, and you can filter to names with at least one free domain.
Should the company name match the domain exactly?
Ideally. An exact match is the easiest for customers to guess. If the .com is taken, a short prefix (get, try, hq) or a credible alternative extension is better than an unrelated domain.
